TikTok Link in Bio: How to Add One and the Followers You Need

You need 1,000 followers to put a clickable website link in your TikTok bio, unless you have a Verified Business Account, which can add one at any follower count. That is TikTok's own wording on its help page Adding a website link to your profile, as of October 2026: "You can add a link to a website on your TikTok profile if you have at least 1,000 followers, or if you have a Verified Business Account."

For an app, that link is the install link, so which path to take is worth deciding early. This guide covers both, the steps, and what to do in the meantime.

The requirements

From TikTok's help center, as of October 2026:

TikTok's pages state no age or country rule for the website link. Many guides say you must be 18, or that you need a "registered" business account; neither appears on TikTok's current help pages, and the business account TikTok names is a verified one.

One limit TikTok does state: it "no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps". You can link to another platform's website, but not to a link that opens its app.

How to add a link to your TikTok bio

TikTok's steps:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Next to Links, tap Add.
  4. Follow the steps to link your website.

The link then shows under your bio, and anyone who taps it leaves TikTok for your page.

Personal account or business account

Personal account. The link unlocks at 1,000 followers. You keep every personal account feature, including the full music library. For a creator, this is the usual path.

Verified Business Account. The link is open at any follower count. To switch, TikTok's steps on Account types on TikTok are:

  1. Tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap the Menu (☰) at the top, then Settings and privacy.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Business verification and follow the steps.

TikTok says verification "may take up to 5 business days", and that a business account you do not verify "may automatically be converted into a General TikTok Account", which takes the link away again if you have under 1,000 followers.

Weigh what a business account changes before you switch. The same help page says Verified Business Accounts "don't have access to our general music library"; they get the Commercial Music Library, songs cleared for commercial use. Many trending sounds on personal accounts will not be available to you. For an app or a brand that plans to post with original audio or licensed music anyway, that costs little. For an account whose videos lean on trending sounds, reaching 1,000 followers on a personal account may be the better trade.

Why you can't see the Links option

Work down this list.

  • A personal account under 1,000 followers. The option appears once you pass it.
  • A business account that isn't verified. Only a Verified Business Account gets the link below 1,000 followers. Check where your verification stands under Settings and privacy > Account > Business verification.
  • An old version of the app. Update it and look under Edit profile again.

  • A link TikTok refuses. A link that opens another social media app will not save.

Before you have the link

Until the link appears, people who want what you show have to find it another way. Make that easy.

  • Put the name in the bio. The app's exact name as it appears in the store, so a search finds it first. TikTok Bio Generator gives you three to pick from.
  • Say it in the video. The last line on screen, or the caption, names the app and where to get it.
  • Pin a video that shows the app. A first-time visitor to your profile sees pinned videos before anything else.
