Start from a slideshow that already works
The quickest way to good engagement is to copy a format that already gets it. The slideshow in the video has over 100,000 likes and 40,000 bookmarks, so something about it works. Find one like it in your niche before you open Postjam, and copy its link from TikTok.
Bookmarks matter more than likes here. A slideshow people save is one they mean to act on, and that is the behaviour you want your version to inherit.
Paste the link
Log in, click Create and choose Slideshow. A dialog opens with two choices, Start from scratch and Paste a link. Pick the second, paste the link, wait for the tick that says the post was found, and press Continue.
Starting from scratch works too, and the dashboard in the video already holds a mix of video and slideshow automations built both ways. A proven slideshow gives you a head start, because the hard part of a format is the idea, and the idea is what you are copying.
What Postjam does with it
Postjam downloads the slideshow and goes through it slide by slide, in two passes:
- The text. It reads the text overlays off every slide and writes them into a new automation, one slide slot per slide. This pass finishes first, and the editor opens on it.
- The images. It indexes what each background shows, then matches each slide to fitting images of your own, so every slide has a pool of backgrounds to draw from. This pass carries on in the background, and the editor says so while it runs.
In the video the whole thing took just over a minute. The result is a slideshow automation with every slide's text and background in place, ready to make as many variations as you like. Postjam also marks which slide is the call to action, from the slide that names the product.
Tidy the text
The original's overlays are long. They worked there, and they are still hard to read. Select a text overlay and open its look. There are four treatments: Plain, Outline, Bubble and Snapchat, each in White, Black, Pink or Green.
Set the long ones to Bubble. A bubble puts a solid box behind the words, which is what lets a viewer keep up with a wall of text on a photo. In the video every long slide gets one.
Add a sticker to the CTA slide
Postjam marked slide three as the CTA slide because it mentions the product, which in the video is the screen time app Unglue. A call to action lands better with an asset beside it, so click Add on that slide and choose Sticker.
A sticker is an image from your gallery, and its Source tab offers three ways to fill it:
- One file always uses that image.
- Several files picks one of them for each export.
- A folder picks an image from everything the folder holds, for each export.
The video uses the app icon as one file, sized down a little with the Width slider on the Position tab. Point the sticker at a folder of screenshots instead and the CTA slide changes with every post.
Choose how the text changes
Every post tweaks the variables. The background changes on every slide, and the text can change too. Each overlay has a mode:
- Fixed ships the line exactly as written. Use it for a line you want locked.
- Cycle takes the line that has shipped the fewest times from your list, so the variations come round evenly.
- AI Rewrite rewords the line at export. Low touches only the connectives, Medium rephrases the same content, and High finds a new angle inside the slide's story. No level invents a claim, a price, a feature or an offer.
Keep the long slides off Fixed, on Cycle or AI Rewrite, so no two posts read the same. On the CTA slide, the Is CTA slide box keeps the ask through a rewrite: the action, where it points and what it offers stay put while the wording moves.
Schedule it
You can export one slideshow and post it by hand, or schedule the automation and let it post itself. The difference is manual against automatic, and scheduling is what saves the time.
Click Schedule and turn the schedule on. Pick the days of the week and a time; the video picks every day at 6 a.m. Then pick the accounts:
- TikTok lands as a draft in your TikTok inbox, and you tap post, because TikTok's API allows nothing else. Here is why.
- Instagram, Threads and Facebook post the slideshow on their own, as a carousel on the first two and a photo post on a Page.
The video schedules TikTok alone, which is where the original performed. Add the others once the automation has proven itself there.
Check the calendar
The Calendar page shows the posts due to go out and the ones that already went. The day after scheduling, tomorrow's 6 a.m. post from the new automation is there.
Open the automation from the calendar before the first post goes out and check two settings: Hashtags, which the import does not fill for you, and the schedule itself.
FAQ
Does the automation post the original's images? No. Postjam reads what each original background shows and matches it to images of your own. The original's photos are the reference, and your gallery is the pool.
Can I import a slideshow that is not on TikTok? The import field takes a TikTok post URL. For a slideshow found elsewhere, start from scratch and write the slides in by hand.
How many slides can an automation have? As many as the original, plus any you add with Slide slot. Most slideshows that perform run between four and eight.
What if the wrong slide is marked as the CTA? Open the slide you want and tick Is CTA slide. Only one slide can hold the mark, and the editor tells you which slide holds it now.
Do I need to keep the sticker? No. It is an overlay like any other. The video adds it because a call to action with an asset beside it lands better than a line of text alone.
Recap
A slideshow automation starts from a link to a slideshow that already works. Postjam reads its slides and matches backgrounds from your gallery. You tidy the style, add a sticker to the CTA slide and pick how the text varies. A schedule then posts a fresh variation every day, and the calendar shows what is coming.
