Questions
Why does Instagram remove the blank lines in my caption?
Instagram trims whitespace when it saves a caption, and a line with nothing on it is whitespace. A line that holds an invisible character is not empty, so it survives.
What character does the line break generator add?
The Braille blank, U+2800. It has no visible glyph and Instagram keeps it, unlike an ordinary space, which it trims.
Does this work in the Instagram bio?
Yes. The bio strips blank lines the same way the caption does, and the same spacer keeps them.
Does it work on the Instagram app and on the web?
Yes. The spacer is a plain character in the text, so it works wherever the text is pasted: the iPhone and Android apps and instagram.com.
Will screen readers announce the spacer?
Some older screen readers read the Braille blank aloud. If accessibility matters for the account, use one blank line between paragraphs rather than several.
Is the Instagram line break generator free?
